Tammy Steier, M.S., OTR/L, C-GCM has worked with older adults and seniors throughout her career. She earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Radford University, as well as, a Masters in Occupational Therapy (OTR/L) from Chatham University, and a certification in Geriatric Care Management (C-GCM) from Misericordia University. During her 19+ years of post-masters experience, Tammy has quality experience in the areas of assisted living, skilled nursing, acute care, inpatient and outpatient rehab, inpatient behavioral health, inpatient drug and alcohol rehab, outpatient geriatric psych, and home health care. She specializes in complex cases with multiple medical issues. Tammy has extensive experience working with clients and their families throughout the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning phases of care.
In addition to her professional work history, Tammy is actively involved with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and is a member of the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA). She is a volunteer and patient advocate with the Franklin County Area on Aging Ombudsman Program and a volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association. Tammy’s education, professional expertise, and compassion make her an ideal care manager, helping families and their loved ones navigate the healthcare network and access available resources.
Tammy is an Aging Life Care Manager (TM) and founder of Avail Care Managers, LLC, a geriatric care management company in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. We help seniors and their families identify their needs, locate the appropriate services, and hire and monitor the services. Our goal is to maximize safety while keeping the older adult in their preferred living environment.
